According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics' latest data, in the week ending 15 March 2025, payroll jobs increased by:
* 0.7% in the month from 15 February 2025
* 0.2% in the year from 16 March 2024
Payroll jobs increased in 13 of the 19 industries analysed. The largest increase was in the education and training sector, which typically sees a seasonal increase in payroll jobs at that time of year – up 5.9%. Arts and recreation followed with an increase of 0.8%.
Four industries had a decrease in payroll jobs of 0.2%:
* retail trade (-0.2%)
* rental hiring and real estate services (-0.2%)
* professional, scientific and technical services (-0.2%)
* information, media and telecommunications (-0.1%)
