A recent report from Square and the Council of Small Business Organisations of Australia (COSBOA) highlights the struggles of Australian small and medium-sized businesses in a tough economy.
Small business owners are looking to the federal government for more support, identifying key areas where policy can help:
* 46% want certainty around the future of the instant asset write off
* 42% seek incentives for technology adoption including AI, eInvoicing, digital payments and cyber security
* 44% desire greater access to low-interest loans and grants for sustainability and innovation
“Australia’s macroeconomic environment this year has been tough for small businesses, so it’s in the national interest to ensure [they] thrive. When small businesses succeed, the entire Australian economy benefits,” said COSBOA chief executive officer Luke Achterstraat.
