Workplace culture under scrutiny in new harassment report

A new report from the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) calls for stronger action to combat sexual harassment at work. The Speaking from Experience report captures the voices of over 300 victim-survivors and outlines practical reforms to shift the burden from individuals to employers.

The AHRC report outlines several key recommendations aimed at tackling persistent workplace sexual harassment:

 * Limit the use of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)

* Increase access to specialist support services

* Introduce penalties for employers who fail to take reasonable steps to prevent harassment

* Establish clearer accountability mechanisms across industries

These reforms build on the Respect@Work framework: a national blueprint developed by the AHRC to prevent and address workplace sexual harassment.
